Hello Prayer Team...

It seems like God sometimes just loves to surprise us!  Our LightBridge staff (Sarah Addy, Amreitha Jeeva and myself) leaves TODAY for an unexpected trip to Cambodia   Usually when you take unexpected trips it's because something bad or negative is happening.  Well, that is not the case for this trip. We are going for just the opposite!

Part of the strategy God has laid on our hearts in working with the poor in Cambodia is to empower Cambodian leaders to help their communities.   This includes empowering villagers to help themselves and become self-sustaining.  One of the greatest ways we've been able to do this is through job creation.  Through incredible donors (many of whom are you!), we employ several Cambodian staff at our LightBridge school including a principal & several teachers as well as two cooks for the feeding program.  Our newest endeavor employs seven amazing ladies in the LandMine Design Program.

Well, God has been on the move these past few weeks and has raised up a couple of Cambodian interns to begin working in our village.   These two young men, Jonathan and David (twin brothers), are 21 years old, love Jesus and are burdened to share Christ with their own countrymen.  For the past couple of years, they have served with us as translators for our teams.  With each trip, God has been drawing their hearts to deeper engagement with this village.  How I wish I could share all the things God has been up to in calling them to serve with us.  To keep the story short, they are moving their lives to work in a remote village on a minefield for the next several months.  We are headed out there to help get them set up so they can begin their work for LightBridge.

God is such a good scheduler!  While out there, we plan to have meetings with Water For Life -- an organization in Cambodia that we are partnering with to bring health/hygiene training and clean water to each village family.  We plan to also meet with the school staff and plan English and Bible classes which Jonathan and David will teach.  We will continue in the development of the LandMine Design Program so that each woman is receiving holistic care in addition to earning a steady income.  We also have several meetings set up with a local Cambodian pastor and his wife who are sensing the Spirit's nudging to minister with us in our village.

God is doing some amazing things!

Would you pray for my team and I as we travel?

- Pray that we would have safe travels to and from Cambodia as well as in our time there
- Pray that we are healthy and stay healthy!
- Pray that our hearts would continually be open to the Lord's strategies to help the poor
- Pray that in all of our efforts, the Gospel would be the resounding message in all that we do
- Pray that God's Kingdom would be advanced powerfully

Thank you for praying!  And would you praise the Lord with us for fantastic airfares...another of God's good surprises for this trip!  I'm excited to share more of what He's doing from that side of the pond!

Grace...

Karla
